My 85 year old mother was admitted to Sycamore ward with a broken hip. I have no complaints about the medical and nursing side of her stay. I have had and am still enduring the most stressful experience of my life.! She has been medically fit for several weeks now and was moved to the Margaret Centre as they needed the orthopaedic bed. She thought she had been sent there to die. In the end I took into my care on Friday as her mental health was really suffering. I have been trying to get a care package in place for her for four weeks now and am just being passed from one person to another with absolutely no results. I am at my wits end and am sick of apologies. I need action not apologies and it appears nobody wants to actually help us. I thought the Daily Mail exaggerated their horror stories of the NHS but after this experience I'm not so sure. Do not take your elderly relative to this hospital if you can possibly avoid it.
