"MRI Anxiety and a lack of clinical empathy"

About: Cavell Hospital

I attended for a knee MRI. I am claustrophobic..and was told i would not go in far..no further than my waist .

A further radiographer arrived and both sermed to be talking to me.

I am then told am going in on and my head would remain outside.

I then felt the tray move and

I seemed to be moving in at spoed and panicked as was not prepared for this.

At no point in this private hospital did i feel anything other than harried and rushed with contradicting advice.

No empathy..just an acknowledgement that this "is not for you"

I felt embarrassed and upset and glad to get away.

It was horrible and if i had seen the CQC report plus recent reviews I wouldn't have bothered.

If you are putting people into this device, you shoukd have some meaaure of ensuring staff can handle anxiety with empathy and support. It was truly truly horrible.

Private healthcare???

It was terrible.
