"First time gastroscopy and colonoscopy - day case"

As a very apprehensive patient I entered the endoscopy unit with a little uncertainty. I knew exactly what to expect on paper but physically experiencing these tests was unknown and the anticipation regarding the results also heightened my anxiety. However, I was very quickly reassured on arrival by fantastic and polite reception staff and very quickly I was admitted to the unit -polite, effective and very professional beginning.

In the unit I was treated with dignity and respect at all times and all the staff I was involved with that day were commendable professionals at all times and I quickly felt more relaxed. I was able to express my anxieties and was reassured in the most empathetic and compassionate way with a touch of humour especially about the bowel prep ! That instantly reassured me.

I can’t thank your staff enough for their professional and caring attitudes from the reception staff to the consultant with the nurses being outstanding in their care from clear explanation of getting ready for the test, staying with me during them (and sorry to the nurse who held my hand as I think I squeezed it very hard! ) and the lovely after care it was all so calm and person centred with a welcome cup of coffee after it was all done. Excellent care Wansbeck Endoscopy Unit and I just wanted to say a big thank you for making these investigations bearable and for taking care of my husband whilst he was waiting he also commented how polite and professional the reception staff were, excellent care thank you.
