"My father died here."

My father spent 6 days in intensive care here after a heart attack which meant his brain was starved of oxigen for 20 minutes.

The care offered by the nurses and expertise by the doctors was second to none. Unfortunately my father died yesterday due to severe brain damage caused by the lack of oxigen produced by a 20 minute cardiac arrest. The doctors and nurses offered amazing care and a special thank you is due to the doctor who was by all means the most caring and detailed in his review of the situation, and another doctorlwas also very good.

Two particular nurses are worth a special mention for their patience and care.

The trainee nurse also a great merit to the system, so caring and always at hand. But unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the nurse who would make up the answers if she didn't know them (and blantently show her annoyance at us asking questions) and who was extremely patronising to us as the family members when we asked such questions. She just made our ordeal a little bit harder and I sincerely hope no one else has to have any dealings with her. Luckily her incorrect statements (even regarding the reasons behind by why the final breaths would take place had to be corrected by registrars and consultants, but she would avoid the bedside, leaving the student nurse to deal with us, and when asked meaningful questions she didn't know the answer to would show annoyance and then proceed to make up answers which were incorrect.

I am sure she is very effective in the every day administration of medication and care but she should not be allowed to deal with family members. She just made the last days of my father's life more distressing, making it quite clear we were a "nuisance" to her.

I would also like to give a special thanks to the neurosurgeon who kindly evaluated my father on 30/05/18 and who was so detailed and caring, a real gentleman and a credit to your system. So sorry we didn't take note of his name.
