"Two bites at the Cherry"

My procedure for an Inguinal hernia repair was aborted at the first attempt by the anaesthetist in the operating theatre. I was actually connected up to the monitors and the cannula inserted to administer anaesthetics and pain killers. Even at that late stage, the anaesthetist, on behalf of the clinic, quite rightly took the professional judgement that it was not entirely safe to proceed. Very impressive in the circumstances. The difficulties which had arisen were resolved and the procedure carried out without incident three months later. I was a 'day case' but was still not allowed home until assessed as clinically fit to do so. The visit from start to finish was an amazing experience. I was consulted by the anaesthetist and the surgeon before the procedure. I was also visited by a succession of professional nursing staff, all clearly 'singing from the same hymn sheet', as it were. After the procedure, which seemed to take only moments between going to sleep and waking up, I was returned to a pristine, fully equipped private room and provided with a meal of choice. I was again visited post procedure by the anaesthetist, the surgeon and various nurses, to discuss how it had gone and how to proceed with after care. These two consultants also work at the major Blackpool hospital nearby and their availability to the clinic is managed through effective liaison between the clinic and the independent secretaries of various consultants. In my own case the relevant secretary, well known to the clinic, was very usefully proactive in helping to arrange my reappearance for surgery by a consultant surgeon with the appropriate expertise. (She looks after the interests of a team of different surgeons). This speaks volumes, not just for the teamwork and efficiency of the clinic, but also their effective networking with other supporting agencies. I am currently at home recovering having undergone the procedure only yesterday (May 30th 2018). I would have no hesitation whatsoever in returning to this clinic for any future procedures that may become necessary. What an amazing resource this is to have on one's doorstep! PS: I left the same sex accommodation question alone because I see this as neither relevant nor appropriate. No offence intended, just my own opinion.
