"Hip Replacements"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

After waiting for a number of years due to age and weight I had both hips replaced in 2017.

I have gone from crutches and a wheelchair to being able to walk and climb stairs pain free.

In fact I am what some might say NORMAL.

The surgeon has done a fabulous job. I have a new lease of life.

Thank you all.

Loved staying in the Derwent. Felt like a hotel at times. All the staff we were friendly professional and above all caring.

Dear Toffee1970

It is always lovely to hear positive stories from patients who have undergone major operations and now experience the life changing benefits the procedure has had.

We are pleased to hear the surgery went well for you and improved your quality of life and mobility.

Thank you also for mentioning your stay at the Derwent, I hope you were fortunate enough to have a room with a lakeside view. We often receive comments about the Derwent and the care given by the staff and I’m sure such comments go a long way to help ease the anxieties of patients not looking forward to the operation.

Your kind comments will be sent to the Ward Sister and Matron and shared with the rest of the staff there.

Regards

Patient Engagement Team
