"Incredible paramedics"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Southmead Hospital / accident & emergency

(as a relative),

On Saturday I used the 999 service to call for an ambulance for my husband. He is recovering from bowel cancer, on Saturday he was in a very distressed state  not being able to sit or lie down and needed medical attention. The paramedics arrived very quickly and were amazing. Kelly, Neil and Georgie took excellent care of my husband  and also making sure I was okay. They were so helpful and so nice.

My husband did need to be taken to Southmead Hospital where, again, the staff in A&E took great care of him whilst putting me at my ease. I expected the A&E unit to be very busy with people on trolleys but we were seen within half an hour in a busy but calm department.

Thank you for your kind comments relating to the care your husband has received from both the Ambulance Service and Emergency Department. I can only imagine how stressful the situation was for you, and I am pleased that all staff who were involved with the emergency were able to provide an excellent service in a calm way. I hope that your husband continues to recover well from his operation. With all best wishes for you both. Sue Needs, Deputy Advice & Complaints Team Manager.

Dear Zuluhc99,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope your husband is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa
