My Dentist referred my son to NHSGGC for an appointment in Paediatric Dentistry.
After waiting a few months for an initial appointment we finally received one for March. I didn't mind waiting a few months as I work in the NHS myself, and I actually was quite impressed with the time we waited. Sadly, I had to cancel the appointment in March, the day before, due to the appalling weather conditions, we couldn't even get off our estate!
I have waited a further 2 months for an appointment, it finally arrived on the Saturday morning, for an appointment on the Monday! It was sent from the hospital on the Friday. This didn't give me even 1 working days notice. Due to having a full out patient list myself on the Monday, there was no way I would be able to make this appointment so I phoned straight away to cancel it Again!
I was told that I couldn't rearrange over the phone and would have to wait for a letter to come through with the new appointment.
My board's policy only allows two consecutive unattended appointments in one episode of care, the card is discharged. I was told I would receive another appointment for my son, but my worry is that I will keep getting this ludicrous short notice which, for working parents, is just not workable.
I really don't understand why people can't rebook via your hub when I phoned to say I couldn't make the appointment.
