"Discharged, but clearly a long way from being better"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My partner was admitted to Medway Hospital regarding   swollen and inflamed leg and hands also he had trouble breathing. They kept him in for 4 days and I took him out side for the first time in a wheelchair and when I took him back to his ward ( will adams) the nurse turned around and said that they had discharged him and he clearly is a long way from better and symptoms have worsened. I feel this is not acceptable at all as now he is unable to go to the toilet has pains in lower back trouble breathing running a high temperature and legs and hands are still inflamed.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that your partner was discharged when you had concerns about his condition. We hope you were able to speak to a member of staff prior to leaving, however if this is not the case and you would like to, please contact our PALS Team (patient advice and liaison service) on 01634 825004 or medwayft.pals@nhs.net and they will be happy to assist you.

If you still have medical concerns about your partners health please do seek further medical attention via the GP service, walk in centres or the Emergency Department.

Kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
