"Appalling admin procedure consultation almost..."

About: Euxton Hall Hospital

I was referred to this hospital by my GP and made my appointment online. After making the appointment I heard nothing for over a week so rang to check as the date of the appointment was imminent. I was told that it was booked, but the procedure I was expecting was not going to take place, just a consultation. I attended the consultation as instructed. My name was called and I entered the consulting room. The consultant did not look up or acknowledge my presence. He was writing. After a few minutes I said "hello". He looked up and said " this is your consent form, please read and sign it", which I did. He then told me when he was available to do the procedure. That was the end of the consultation. I was then told to stand in the corridor and complete a patient information form which I did. My appointment letter arrived but with no instructions as to fasting procedure etc. I rang up and was told that this information should have been given at consultation and couldn't be posted out. I also asked about sedation and was told that this should have been discussed at consultation and that I was down for local anaesthetic. None of these were discussed. I have since cancelled the procedure and am going elsewhere
