I came to the surgery today to collect a prescrition. Last Tuesday I called the surgery for a repeat prescription, co codamal and naproxen, I was informed this would be at Bannerbrook chemist on Thursday. I went to collect them on the Friday. The co codamol was there but the naproxen wasn’t. I called the surgery whilst at the chemist, this was witnessed, and we were told it would be faxed to the chemist that day.
On Monday (today) I went back to the chemist to collect said Naproxin to be told it wasn’t there. The lady in the chemist was as confused as I was. The pharmacist called the surgery again to be told they don’t fax prescriptions??? They would have to reprint and get a new one signed, this is very wasted time consumption don’t you think?
I then personally had to come to the surgery to explain this complete mess (which incidentally isn’t the first time) to be met by a member of staff. I started to explain and it was extremely obvious she wasn’t remotely interested and tapping on her keyboard was. I said “I’m unsure if your listening” she was defensive and ordered me to “sit down” no please no explaination.
By this time I was very distraught and sat sobbing until she thrust my prescription in my face. I said “thank you”
but before I left I did feel the need to tell this lady she was rude and had made matters far worse by her manner disrespect and lack of empathy. Something I thought would have been the top of any employers list!!!
I returned for the third time to the chemist still very upset by this as I am now.
I am riddled throughout with arthritis so in constant pain, I have an under active thyroid and asthma. I also lost my father 7months ago. The last thing I ever expected was for this receptionist to behave in such a way that has left me more distraught and totally flabbergasted.
If your surgery can’t get a simple thing like a repeat prescription right what kind of confidence do we have in you looking after our health, at the tax payers expense!!!!
