"Excellent care under pressurised & difficult..."

About: Hillingdon Hospital / Accident and emergency

I cannot fault the care and compassion of all the health professionals at Hillingdon Hospital who continue to work under extreme pressure on a continual basis and in dated and rather shabby surroundings.

Yesterday I had appointments in the Ultrasound, Gynae, pre-op assessment unit and then unexpectedly, the A&E Department.

I was treated with the utmost kindness, respect and dignity.

The A&E Department, in particular, was stretched beyond capacity with trolleys being lined up in the corridor when I eventually left the hospital at 1am this morning.

The Doctors, Nurses, Carers, Hostesses and Cleaners all worked non-stop and incredibly hard during my stay and they carried on working, looking after patient, after patient, after patient.

They were empathic, compassionate and kind and I could not fault their persistence and stoicism.

Despite being continually cleaned, the toilets were shabby and in need of refurbishment - taps and pipes were leaking.

I am in awe of their fortitude and willingness to keep going when the NHS is bulging at the seems and in dire need of more funding and restructuring without the use of a multitude of higher level managers, and so much bureaucracy for the medics to have to complete continually.

Jeremy Hunt should visit this Hospital and see how hard each and every individual works for little praise and minimal salary.

Hang your head in shame Mr Hunt - this hospital deserves more reward and investment.
