"Made an upsetting experience feel even worse"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Gynaecology

I experienced an early miscarriage last month after suffering years of infertility. The first visit was ok I was seen quickly, scanned and had my bloods done. Miscarriage confirmed over the phone but no details on support or even a leaflet.

I ended up feeling ill a few days after the miscarriage and came back waited hours was treated with little respect and dignity. The miscarriage wasn’t dealt with sensitively at all. I was treated like I had imagined it and left in the room on my own for hours. I asked to go home as no one would see me and luckily one of the nice nurses comforted me as I burst into tears and listened to me and treated me with care and dignity. I felt vulnerable and this was just ignored and I was treated like a number.

Please try and learn from how you treated me. The ladies coming here are dealing with some awful things please try and remember that.

I am deeply sorry to hear about your experience in our care. It is absolutely vital that we listen to and learn from your experience as we very clearly fell well short. I would welcome the opportunity to speak further about your concerns and if you would be willing to do so, you can contact me directly via ward A23 (0115 924 9924 ext 69023)

Kind regards
