Been with this surgery in the past and recently reregistered after having moved away, and found it much better the last time I was here. I'm not sure if the problems are a result of funding issues but they have a major impact on the services provided.
It seems that the surgery is understaffed or suffering from a lack of doctors, I have been in on days where only one doctor is seeing patients. For this reason it is difficult to book an appointment, if you cannot wait the waiting list which is a few weeks long then you are advised to ring up at 8am to book a same day appointment but the lines are often so busy that by the time you get through there are none available. So lack of available appointments is the biggest issue it seems, making it difficult to even see a doctor.
The reception staff are not the friendliest or most welcoming but they are competent staff and respect doctor-patient confidentiality much better than my previous surgery.
When you do manage to secure an appointment, they are not always particularly useful. My most recent lasted no more than 2 minutes, and i was asked no questions and I did attempt to engage discussion but was not followed up on this. I was instead repeatedly asked if I wanted my prescription, until I eventually gave up trying to discuss my health and accepted the prescription. Considering the difficulty of getting an appointment, it was disappointing to be denied the opportunity to discuss my health status and instead be treated as though I was wasting the doctor's time.
"Disappointing"
