After 2 years of constant UTIs, it was the practice nurse that finally realised some thing was wrong and booked an appointment for me to see a gp. She told me to ask him for a referral to urology. After a cystoscopy it was discovered I had bladder cancer. It was a 6 cm tumour. I'd seen the gp a few months prior to this with a lump in my groin, that she thought was a lymph node. I was sent for an ultrasound on said lump. If my bladder had been scanned too the tumour Would have shown up. I often wonder if the gps there would still be treating me for UTIs, if it wasn't for that nurse.
Every time I attempt to make an appointment, it's for a different gp so there's no continuity of care. Booked appointments usually have at least a 2 week wait. The receptionist is nosey, ways asking what the problem is, one even told me my blood test results were ok when they weren't. I rang last week to book an appointment of to be told that as there are 2 bank holidays this month I would not be able to book an appointment until 29th May. I could either turn up for the walk in clinic, and wait forever to be seen, or phone at 2pm on the day, when everyone else is trying so I'll never get through. The receptionist did inform me that I could always look for another surgery.
I have never been happy with my treatment at this surgery. Most of the doctors are either too rushed or have an attitude, i had to report 1 to the practice manager. They never follow up on medication either.
Needless to say, I'm not looking for a new surgery.
"Awful."
