"Attentive Staff"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

The bad and the good: Went by ambulance to Ayr Hospital and was promptly assessed. However, I needed to be transferred to Crosshouse Hospital. Waited 8 hours to be transferred. In that time I was offered a cup of tea and a biscuit.

The good: I was promptly given a bed at Crosshouse where they gave me something to eat and drink. My care there was very good. Attentive staff explained all procedures.

Dear Dracotw58,

Thank you for taking the time to write up your feedback on your experience involving Ayr and Crosshouse Hospital and the Scottish Ambulance Service. I hope you are recovering well.

I would be very interested to know more about what happened that day and I can look into the wait that you had to be transferred. Also it would be great to give any positive feedback to the crews that were involved in your care.

If you would like me to do this could you please email me on scotamb.feedback@nhs.net with the details of when both the Ambulances were sent to attend and where along with any details you would like to share.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear dracotw58,

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback on care opinion. I am sorry you had such a long wait to be transferred by ambulance to the stroke unit. This must have been a worrying time. Patients with stroke are normally transferred directly to Crosshouse as emergency.

Before we give any oral diet or fluids in the stroke unit we immediately check it is safe to do so. I am glad you were rapidly provided with something to eat. I am delighted you found the care to be good and that staff fully explained what was going to happen and were attentive.

I will ensure your comments are shared with the team in 3E. I hope you are now recovering well.

Best Wishes,

Christine
