"Many thanks from a very happy and grateful patient"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day Intervention Unit

(as the patient),

Although my planned operation had been cancelled twice over recent months it went ahead as planned last week at Kirkcaldy Hospital in Fife..

I must say that I had the most pleasant experience with, the surgeon, anaesthetist and all the nurses. At no stage did I feel left out of the loop or disregarded as everything was proactive and positive.

The surgeon advised me that I would be operated on using the Laparascopic method for my Hernia. I was admitted for most of the day and I could not fault all the attention I was given both before and after the surgery. The nurses were wonderful and especially one particular nurse who appeared to have sole care for me, but I unfortunately do not know her name. Also other nurses were also carrying out either blood pressure tests or temperature tests and ensuring I was able to urinate before letting me go home and everything went well and I was home by 5.30 pm.

The recuperation is supposed to be about 4/5 weeks well I can advise that I do not have any pain in the affected site and only slightly where the plasters are covering the three small incisions made for the Lararscopic instruments, so other than that I am virtually pain free and I am sure I shall be in a day or two.

My surgery method was much better than the last time, around 4/5 years ago, where the tummy muscle was cut and the recovery period was much longer around the 4/5 weeks, so what a difference now!

Thank you to all the staff of the hospital and to the NHS general as I have not had a bad experience at anytime for whatever treatment I have had especially over the past 20 years. The staff are all wonderful and try their very best to ensure you know what is happening at most times and they ensure you are comfortable and aware of what is happening at all times, such wonderful people and a wonderful service provided for free.

Many thanks from a very happy and grateful patient.

Dear jamesL958

Thank you so much for your kind words on Care Opinion.

It is so nice to hear that you found this to be an overall positive experience and all the staff made you feel well cared for and kept you fully informed.

The advances in healthcare over the past few years have seen a faster recovery period for all procedures and it is nice that you have benefited and can appreciate this.

I will be sure to pass on your kind words to all the nursing and medical staff.

Thank you once again

Sandra
