"Misdiagnosed at the urgent walk in centre"

About: Guy's Hospital

After being unable to get a gp appointment for 2weeks, I decided to go to the walk in centre as I was convinced that I have a bacterial skin infection. I saw the nurse practitioner who insisted I had a cold sore and said I should go to the local pharmacy to get cold sore cream. I didn’t go through with this as I was convinced she was wrong. lo and behold, I got a emergency gp appointment and the DR diagnosed me with a contagious (but not serious) bacterial infection for which I’m currently on 2 types of antibiotics and signed off work for a week.

I explained that I was concerned as I work on the hospital ward, however the nurse still didn’t seem convinced.

I understand that some people come to the walk in centre with exaggerated claims but if she was unsure she should’ve made sure that I saw a Dr. Can’t believe she thought I had a cold sore when the issue was on my face and not my lip smh
