"Everything went smoothly"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

I went into Wishaw hospital yesterday to Doctor Robertson's clinic in to have some bone marrow taken. She was really kind and caring and explained everything thoroughly, clearly and slowly. I had some bone marrow taken from my spine a few years ago which did hurt but it wasn't painful yesterday, just a bit uncomfortable. Because she explained everything so well it meant I could relax and not be tense and I felt good after and feel fine today. It took me a while to walk back to the car after but I think was helpful to have bit of exercise afterwards. So overall it all went really smoothly and it was a good experience.

Dear giftck95,

It's really important that people are well informed and understand what options they have for treatment and investigations, as well as any associated benefits and risks. Dr Robertson has obviously explained the procedure in detail with you.

That aligned to Dr Robertson's clinical skills has ensured a positive visit to the clinic for you and it will be my pleasure to share your feedback.

I hope your feedback will help allay any anxieties or fears that other people may have about having this procedure.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I wish you well with your recuperation.

Kind regards

Rick
