I had an arthroscopy on Easter Sunday. The care and treatment by Dr Naim and his team was excellent. The procedure was fully explained and the consenting process thorough. I felt an active participant in my care able to ask questions and reassured about risks and expectations of the procedure. The anaesthetic team were compassionate and proficient and I felt very safe in their hands. Apologies that I cannot recall the recovery team but thanks to them anyway.
The day surgery unit was well equipped and exceptionally clean. I was well cared for by staff nurse Sharon throughout and nothing was too much trouble.
I have negative feedback however regarding a senior staff member who visited the unit to ask nursing staff to move over to ward 40. Their strongly persuasive discussion regarding risk and lack of staffing on ward 40 was alarming and don't think it should have taken place within earshot of patients about to undergo surgery. I was anxious that nurses may not be on the unit once I returned from theatre.
Overall an excellent service provided with dignity and respect from a highly skilled and competent team.
