"Would not return!"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Maternity

Gave birth to my first child here in 2016, after being sent home twice and no contractions were showing on ctg. also second time I went in the midwife said she was ‘checking me to see how far I was and actually did a sweep - I didn’t consent to this and actually cried as I was prepared for it and it was very painful. In my notes it said sweep done with consent. My husband was present and agreed nothing was mentioned at all about a sweep!!!

I went a third time in the most horrendous pain the midwife said I’d have to wait whilst she read my notes. She then hooked me up to ctg and again no contractions even though I was telling her I was having them (I’m just a first time mum what do I know!) she checked my urine and said it must be because I have a urine infection and I will be written for antibiotics. I was pleading for some pain relief! My husband asked if I could just be checked to see how far I was. Turns out I was 9cms

Gave birth to baby and was taken to birthing unit. And the experience was horrible!! Just left there, I rang the buzzer on a few occasions as I wasn’t sure baby was feeding properly and was told she was no problem. To then be approached by a midwife at 8PM to say she has really bad tongue tie and isn’t latched on properly. So all that time my baby was eating no wonder she was crying. The ward was full during the day, someone else’s kid kept coming behind my screen with the Dad coming to get him. Just what you need when you’re breastfeeding, nurses didn’t care.

Every woman was discharged except for me. I rung the buzzer and at 9pm and asked what was happening as no one had spoken to me about it they said I’d have to stay for breastfeeding support at this point I burst in to tears and asked what support id been given!? My husband was the only one helping and they were telling him to leave.

I said I wanted to self discharge and the midwifes words were ‘ well you’ll end up in a&e tonight from baby not eating’ I burst in to tears whilst she got me a form to sign.

Vile way to treat/speak to a new mum. Also notes not accurate apparently I’d declined the rubella injection, I wasn’t asked. Bf/sids all discussed with me apparently!
