"Disorganised and uncaring A&E. 8 hour wait"

About: Royal Free Hospital / Accident and emergency

Took my Father to Royal Free A&E due to left side abdominal pain and vomiting. He had been discharged from Barnet less than week before with same issue. We were left waiting for 8 hours, 5 hours wasted waiting for the wrong team. No one there cared at all and kept being told that specialist doctors are too busy to see my elderly Father.

13:40 Registered with A&E

15:00 Seen by Nurse and she said he needs to be seen by HPB team.

16:20 Seen A&E Doctor, handed over discharge notes from Barnet. She referred to surgical team.

21:05 Finally got seen by surgical team. When they read the discharge notes, they said that they are wrong team and he needs to be seen by HPB Team.

Wasted 5 hours just waiting for wrong team.

21:50 Moved to ward

Thank you for taking time to leave a review; I am sorry for the timeline you describe and please pass my apologies to your father also.

It is not possible for me to comment, suffice to say sometimes it is necessary to change the team of Drs a patient is under.

However, I would expect this to be in a more sensitive and open way than you describe.
