"Can’t get through to paediatric assessment"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

Since I had my baby in December last year, I have found out that she has a dairy allergy. After a long battle with my own GP, I gave up and went to A&E myself with her. I didn’t want to resort to that but I had NO choice! My concerns about my daughters rash, severe vomiting and every other symtom were dismissed by the doctor. I could barely understand him and he didn’t have a clue what I was on about! He didn’t believe me when I said that my daughter is also allergic to the similac milk that my GP prescribed her as it’s ‘hydrolysed milk’. I got no answers on what to do. I’m a first time mum so I haven’t had any experiences before and this was so frustrating I was nearly tearing my hair out. I kept going back to my GP and pushed him to refer my daughter to a dietician AND a paediatric which was done on the 13th February 2018 and I still have NOT heard anything! I’m trying to get hold of the paediatric assessment unit and NO ANSWER! I appreciate that the NHS is very overstretched and on the whole they do an amazing job, however, my daughters condition is awful if she has dairy. She’s now on soya milk but I’ve been told that they’re not allowed soya milk under the age of 6 months! She’s now 3 months but what else am I meant to do!! SOOO frustrated!!! You really need to sort your phones out...might reduce the strain in A&E!
