I took my 3yr old daughter to Girvan community hospital after warnings from her Nursery that cases of Scarlet Fever were in her room. My daughter showed some symptoms of the illness so I made an appointment with the local GP and the doctor wasn't welcoming. I was asked i"f I knew many mothers bring their "snotty nosed children" thinking they they have Scarlet Fever. I was shocked at this comment and at the GP's unfriendliness. I asked what they thought my daughter had and the GP said they couldn't confirm but said if it was Scarlet Fever that it was very early stages or slap cheek. I advised the GP that I was expecting a baby and was offered no information about risks and no reassurance.
