my father was a patient over Christmas 2017 and his standard of care generally was poor..
because of his poor health, lack of one to one care was obvious. he was in a small side room with his bed across the room taking up practically the whole width, and he faced the blank wall with just a large clock. food was generally not offered to him in the appropriate manner , he felt neglected by staff and twice was left naked as staff felt intimidated by him. some nurses were great, but because of other nurses poor enthusiasm my overall feeling was that his care was poor. lack of a sister on the ward was obvious as staff nurses would look at each other rather than stepping up to assist.
the excuses of lack of staff are wearing thin now.
"lack of leadership lowering of standards"
