"Good experience of the NHS from GP to the ED"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

My two year old took unwell yesterday having had a cold for a few days and became quite distressed because of his breathing. My husband took him to the GP earlier that day who gave some medication and advice as to what to do if he didn't improve.

Unfortunately we had to follow his advice as the wee man became more distressed.

We attended the ED in wishaw where he proceeded to be sick in front of the reception desk! (Embarrassing) but Rachel in reception put me at ease and cleaning staff dealt with the mess.

My wee boy turned a corner really quickly after that. But even although suddenly he seemed a bit better we were never made to feel silly for brining him in. Nurses Amy and Rachel put us all at ease and with some simple observations we could see that the wee guy was not drastically Ill. Our Dr - Tariq was very thorough and reassuring I can't compliment him enough.

All in all a good experience of the NHS from GP to the emergency department even if we still have a wee boy who's feeling a bit sorry for himself but hopefully that passes with no more drama.

Dear worried mum82,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your experience of you and your sons experience within ED.

The staff will be really pleased with your nice comments and I am delighted that he was cared for during this anxious time for you.

I hope that he is feeling better and resting well.

Best wishes

Andy
