"Appointments? You'll be lucky"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Ophthalmology

I originally saw a specialist in March last year, not in RPH but in a GP surgery. I was told that I didn't need a further clinic appintment. My GP referred me for an ophthalmology clinic due to a worsening of my macular degeneration in October.

I received an appointment for 5 February, which was cancelled with no explanation.

I received another appointment for 24 March, which again was cancelled with no explanation and re-booked for 11 June.

Unfortunately I will be on holiday on that date, and have just been told by the Outpatients booking department that I therefore have to go back on to the waiting list.

This beggars belief.

I have deteriorating eyesight and feel that the NHS simply doesn't care.

The same consultant can be seen privately, it appears, at another hospital.Money equals treatrment.
