"THANK YOU"

About: Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I I have had two cataract extraction with intraocular lens implant operations at Bassetlaw Hospital.

One operation in Sept.2017 and the second in jan.2018

I had two different surgeons who were both considerate and reassuring. The nursing staff were superb and talked me through any extra concerns I had.

I can know see clearly with both eyes . I have had 60 years of being very short sighted and unable to see without those very thick lenses.

Life is now totally different -the fog has gone..I do not need glasses (apart from a cheap pair of reading glasses to thread a needle)

The operation itself did not take long and was not painful. I would say I felt a little discomfort but that went away very quickly. I went home with a plastic cover over my eye which stayed on until the next morning....THEN I COULD SEE-- I had to put one lot of drops in the eye for 10 days and another for 28days. I could take a flight after 4 weeks and swim in the sea after6 weeks...AMAZING

If your optician says you have cataract and need surgery do not hesitate

Thank you Bassetlaw for my new world.

I am so pleased to read how happy you were with the surgery and that you now have much clearer vision.

I will share your comments with the teams who will be delighted to hear you had such a positive experience.
