"Amazing care at Rainforest Ward - Treehouse Unit"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

We were admitted to the Rainforest Ward this week with our 5 year old daughter who has orbital cellulitis, sinusitis and a Group A Strep infection. There is such a lovely friendly feel to the ward and the nursing staff did an amazing job of keeping our daughter (and us) as calm as possible. Their manner with her was so child-focused and they quickly managed to build a real rapport with her and to get her to engage with her treatment however unpleasant (eg nose drops which she hates taking). She did not respond as quickly as expected to treatment and professionals on the unit quickly realised that she needed more specialised treatment elsewhere and did a great job pushing for her to be transferred and, in the meantime, taking expert advice from specialists at other hospitals which may well have saved her sight in that eye, and her life. Since being transferred, she has asked a few times if she could have the nurses from Treehouse Unit back again. We felt very well looked after. Thank you all for doing such an amazing job under such pressures. We are so so grateful for the NHS.

It's lovely to hear both you and your daughter were comfortable in the hospital and with the nurses caring for you. It's always such a worry when little ones need to go into hospital and it's clear that the way the staff cared for and communicated with you meant a lot to you. I hope your daughter is recovering well.
