I was sent to a&e today by 111 as I was having difficulty breathing. It was exceptionally busy because of the snow so I was put on a wheelchair in a corridor. The staff were under a lot pressure with people being brought in by ambulance very regularly but I was listened to, given a number of tests and treatment + medication that meant I could go home. The team worked really effectively to check on everyone despite being spread into corridors, offering food and drink to patients while they waited for tests or medication. The walk in area was full to bursting when I was discharged but there was a sense of order. Well done ED.
"Excellent care under pressure"
