"Maternity consultants"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Maternity care

Recently I have been receiving consultant care due to my last birth, this time in pregnancy I feel very anxious, I thought having consultant care would ease this but because of shortages I see someone different everytime this is fine but half of them don't have time to read your notes and understand your circumstances. Each consultant will say something different to the last, I really don't know if I am coming or going. This isn't down to the consultants but lack of money from the government and I feel that the service is letting down mothers who need extra care and time, there is no continunity for the mothers and it's easy to see how mistakes can be made. Something needs to be done, the maternity ward and the children's ward need more funds to support staff and patients.

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us and I am sorry to learn you are feeling very anxious during your pregnancy due to the lack of continuity of care.

I would welcome the opportunity to look into your concerns in order to provide you with a full investigation and response, and would ask that you either telephone or e-mail the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01271 314090 or ndht.pals@nhs.net for further support.

Kind regards

Jayne
