"Poor experience of orthapedics and physiotherapy"

After a serious accident 2yrs ago I finally got to see someone to discuss my injury. I was advised that stress at work was the cause of the ongoing pain (untrue) and not the injury itself and told to slouch at work by the orthopedic specialist and then passed to a physiotherapist. My private x-rays identifying other issues were dismissed without being viewed.

The physiotherapist barely examined me before declaring that I had Fibromyalgia, which I am sure she is not qualified to diagnose! I questioned this but it was repeatedly referred to as the cause of my pain. Despite being advised that I would be given access to the gym with a physio and hydrotherapy this never occurred. After suffering a relapse of my shoulder and neck injury this was again dismissed as Fibromyalgia without the physio even examining me! When I again explained that I did not wish for her to refer to me as having this chronic illness without a formal diagnosis from a Rheumatologist she became hostile and promptly told me that I was being discharged then.

I wasn't listened too nor do I believe I was examined properly. I am concerned not only that staff are diagnosing illnesses that they are not qualified to diagnose and potentially missing other injuries but the manner in which these 'diagnosis' are made is abrupt and rude considering a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is life long and incurable and potentially very upsetting. If that was the case giving a patient time to ask questions and digest this information would be more appropriate rather that this abrupt, patronizing and frankly smug attitude from a physiotherapist. In addition this was done in front of a trainee which is detrimental to future patients.
