About: The Great Western Hospital / Accident and emergency

Taken to A and E GWH after being treated at home, for gash to head, by three fantastic and kind paramedics. Appreciate A and E is busy, but the levels of care seemingly varied greatly within the group of people working there.

A request for a drink of water after several hours was met with a snappy 'we are very busy' from a nurse, whereas a young doctor hearing the exchange fetched water and helped me to drink it.

As I was on a trolley in the aisle I heard the staff had time to chat about their social lives, though presumably not whilst on their official breaks.

The doctors directly involved in my care in A and E were excellent.

The other staff were hit and miss.

Had to stay in the hospital for one more night - on a ward - so that a sleep-deprived EEG could be carried out.

The test was delayed with neurology and the ward blaming one another. The problem only resolved when I made a terrible fuss, which I really did not want to do or feel well enough to do..

On the ward I met the kindest of staff and others who made we wonder why they wanted to work in 'care'. at all.

The bathroom on the ward was dirty, the sink blocked

Could so easily have been fixed - I know because in the end i fixed it myself using a pair of tweezers.

Generally.

I am so distressed and frustrated that since September I have been having seizures, the last one resulting in a gash to my head, severe bruising to left knee plus a good pair of spectacles being broken..

I have kept records of each seizure to aid diagnosis.

No one wants to read my notes.

Neurology appointment is in April, life is on hold.
