"A very positive experience"

A relative who lives alone had an emergency admission after falling and breaking a hip. This was on top of existing problems with severe and debilitating arthritis. . The ambulance crew were very caring and considerate, and helped him feel secure after the shock and pain of the fall.He was well cared for in casualty, where he was thoughtfully given a drink and sandwich after diagnosis, that night, as he was due to have a hip replacement the following morning and would get no breakfast.The care he received on Holly Ward was second to none, with a very professional and caring staff, from the lady who brought the tea to the Ward Sister.. My relative has a poor appetite and is underweight, but thoroughly enjoyed his meals on the ward, and this has motivated him to change his eating habits at home.The discharge was complicated because of his mobility, but occupational therapy did a professional assessment of his home, and we were able to make improvements for his safety.. We were invited to a Multi Disciplinary team meeting to go over every aspect of my realtives returmn home, and appropriate support was put in place.All the professional present were well informed, thorough and caring, and it was obvious that there was extremely effective communication and good co operation well led by the Ward Sister. I cannot tell you how grateful i am for this outstanding care and professionalism, which i am sure has contributed a great deal to my relative's swift and happy recovery.
