"Lack of care and compassion"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Cardiology (Heart Conditions) Wards 6c & 6d Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

Appalled at the lack of care and compassion for my elderly sick father who was suffering from pneumonia and fell trying to get out of bed during the night to go to the toilet as no one responded to his call. He was then manhandled and traumatised and was transferred to coronary care where he received excellent care. Unfortunately he passed away two days later

Dear Sunset,

Firstly can I pass on my condolences. I am very sorry to hear about your Father's experience and that you feel he did not receive the care and compassion he deserved during a stay on one of our wards.

I have shared your post with the General Manager. I would be grateful if you could contact me with your personal details so that we can look into this further. My email address is julie.craik@nhs.net Please could you quote reference 466878.

Once again can I express my sympathy at this time.

Julie
