"The care given to our mum"

About: Strathcarron Hospice / In-Patient Unit

(as a relative),

Mum was admitted to the hospice in August 2017, and from that day on she was treated with the utmost care and respect from all members of staff and volunteers. They always had a chat and a smile and not just for mum, this was always extended. After hearing some not so good news I myself had a small episode of being very upset, one of the nurses came to find me to ensure I was okay and also an ear for me to share my fears. On one occasion they pulled put the stops out to ensure mum got to spend some time with her great niece who was 2. They moved mum and her bed to the conservatory and brought toys through too for Harriet, this turned out to be last day we got to spend with mum, and I will be forever grateful to the staff at Strathcarron Hospice for making this happen. I now volunteer at the Hospice, my way of giving back and saying thank you #makingeverymomentcount

Thank you for your very positive feedback and for taking the time to post it. We are most certainly one massive team at the Hospice - extending from the staff across all the care settings, the various departments right through to the vounteers. We are very pleased to know that you felt the caring presence of so many of those team members during the time you all spent in the In-Patient Unit.

I am sorry for your loss as I see it is still early days in your bereavement for you and your family. We are particulary grateful therefore that you are giving your time as a volunteer to help us deliver more of that person-centred care to others.

Many thanks again for your post and I will share this with the Team.
