"Discharge from hospital"

About: Epsom Hospital / Accident and emergency

Firstly, A & E didn't notify the ward that I had an infection which meant isolation.

Every day a different nurse or care assistant looking after me which was without explanation confusing.

Although I met many doctors and other staff not enough information about what could be happening next.

This included that I may need an internal examination but this couldn't be done whilst I was in hospital as I would have to prepare for it and go back again in several weeks time.

Too few staff meaning the red button alarm unattended particularly for the lady in the room next to me.

No guidance on discharge from the ward of what to do next to continue my recovery.

Having been told I would be going home too much hanging around waiting for the discharge letter and prescription.

I finally left the ward reception at about 18:30 fortunately after being able to eat my ordered supper as otherwise it would have been at least 20:00 from 12:30 before I could have anything to eat at home.

Finally, I couldn't find the "free of charge online survey."

Hello, we are sorry to hear this and quite concerned. Please could you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison service on 01372 735243 or email est-tr.PALS@nhs.net and a member of the team will investigate further.
