"My first ever trip to A&E"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital / Accident and emergency

I had to visit the A&E because I broke my foot during cross country. (I am 11 years old). I was worried about going during this time because of all the news about the high demand but they were very organised and I was seen very quickly. The Nurse explained what she was going to do and how she would help me. We went to x-ray and I was scanned quickly. I went back to minors. I was sitting opposite the nurse's desk. She was busy seeing other sick people and working on her computer, but she kept looking up and smiling at me and asking if I was okay. I did not feel worried because she cared and she was looking after me. The doctor came to see me and explained what had happened and what we would do next. Thank you very much for helping and looking after me.

Dear Anonymous

Sorry to hear you have a broken foot, I hope it doesn’t hurt too much and the break is not too bad. I hope your mum and the rest of the family are running around looking after you and making sure you have everything you need - LOL

It is nice to hear you had a nurse looking out for you while you were waiting for the results of your x-ray to come back, and that she was keeping watch over the other patients as well. It is good this made you feel cared for and looked after and didn’t feel worried about anything.

Once the doctor explained everything I hope it was all clear what was happening and I hope you were able to choose a nice bright colour for your cast.

We will pass your kind comments on to the department as I know they appreciate all patient comments.

Thank you and we hope you get better quickly

Patient Engagement Team.
