"Exceptional care for my mother-in-law"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Critical Care

(as a relative),

I would just like to take the time to thank each and everyone of the nursing and doctor staff in the Medical High Dependency Unit ward 106b for their exceptional care for my mother-in-law this last week. She had been rushed into hospital and unfortunately it wasn’t good news, she was in kidney failure and she had contracted septicaemia. The empathy that all the staff had for our family made us feel very important and they all went above and beyond for our dear Mum. I feel at hard times like this the medical and nursing staff don’t get the recognition they deserve and I and the rest of the family are truly thankful. I would also like to give a special thank you to the nurse Lewis, after my mother-in-law passed away he was exceptional with us all and they didn’t make us feel like things had to move on and be “sorted” so for that Lewis my family and I thank you. All the very best to the staff of MHDU ward 106b. I hope this reaches the staff as I feel like these guys need to know how appreciated their hard work was for us. Thank you

Dear snowxc84,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your thanks for the care your mother in law received whilst in ward 106b especially at this very sad time for you and your family.

I am heartened to hear that the staff showed such empathy whilst caring for your mother in law during her time in the unit and that you and your family were given the time that you required after she passed away - this is so important for families and to ensure that there is no rush at this distressing time.

I will certainly share your thanks and kind words with Lewis and the rest of the team who will be so pleased to know that the care that they gave to both your mother in law and yourselves was so appreciated and that they made such an impact at what must have been a very difficult and upsetting time for you all.

With best wishes to you and your family

Take care

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse
