"My appointment was an hour late"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I attended outpatients for a pre-arranged appointment with a consultant. This was a follow up appointment following day surgery on my nose to remove a rodent ulcer. My appointment was an hour late and I was seen for a consultation that lasted 5 minutes. This is the second time in 6 months that I have had an appointment with the same consultant and on both occasions they were running at least an hour late. Whilst the nurse apologised for the delay, none was offered by the consultant.  Whilst I am sure that the doctors, as with all hospital staff, have heavy schedules, I feel it is important to remember that patients time is important too.

I do appreciate how irritating it must be and I wholeheartedly agree with you that your time is important too. I am sorry that you felt that the consultant did not respect your valuable time.
