"I left there very tearful"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Although my story did not end as severe as others I still feel I need to share my experience that happened this evening. I called the mulberry department to explain I had less fetal movement than normal, was very worried but did not have my notes as hubby had taken them in his car on a 2 hour drive! Admittedly I should always have my notes so apologised sincerely although I was made to feel like an irresponsible child! I arrived and sat down to do the 2-3 hour wait, after half an hour my movement appeared to be better so I asked the person at reception what they recommended I do, they said they couldn't possibly comment but the wait was very long! I asked how long (not that this was an issue) and they huffed and puffed that they were supposed to be on break and that it was my fault for not bringing notes! Another nurse who hadn't even spoke or seen to me said they couldn't see anyone without notes.

The first rude, abrupt person then said I would just have to wait because I didn't have my notes and now they needed to go and find out for me. Although as I said I should of had my notes, I was made to feel completely useless and like a child being told off for returning home late. This is my first proper experience with Basildon hospital and has made me seriously consider going to Queens where I was treated with the utmost compassion and respect. I hope for anyone that has to go into that department that they were just having a bad day and I got the brunt of it! I left there very tearful.
