About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was out with friends enjoying the evening when he became ill because someone has spiked his drink. He became unconscious and his friends called the Ambulance. They arrived in good time and took my son to RCHT.  The wait time was a little long but dept was busy.

Dear ApocMedic,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope your son is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in your son's care, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa

Dear ApocMedic

Thank you for taking the time to post such valuable feedback for Royal Cornwall Hospital's Emergency Department. Firstly, please accept my apologies for our delay in responding to your review.

I am sorry to learn that your son had a longer wait than what would be expected to be seen within the department on this occasion due to the high volume of patients. I will share your review with the Matrons for ED so that they are also aware and are able to consider other ways to ensure that patients are seen as quickly as possible especially during busy periods.

Thank you again for sharing your story and I do hope that your son has fully recovered.

With kind regards

Michaela Brewer, Patient and Family Experience Coordinator

Update posted by ApocMedic (a parent/guardian)

Thank you, please do not take my comments regarding the wait time as a complaint. It wasn’t meant they way. I have been on both sides of the counter so to speak, having bought many patients in (PTS/Emergency patients) and also as a patient myself. You all do such a wonderful job and I thank you all so much.
