My mum regularly uses the oncology dept for her cancer treatment weekly and has previously been treated in other oncology departments in different hospitals.
On every single one of her appointments at Lincoln, her treatment has never been on time, for example she had a 12 o’clock appointment for chemo and wasn’t seen by a nurse until two hours later, and when she does eventually get seen her chemo drug is always late from the pharmacy, which creates another unnecessary delay
On one visit the nurse forgot to order her anti sickness tablets and told her she would be fine without them!
In her visits to other hospitals she has the same nurse for the entirety of her appointment, but at Lincoln she has a different nurse for each separate task which creates delays and confusion between staff and leaves my mum feeling uncared for throughout an already stressful experience, and she is not allowed to have any one to accompany her.
On another occasion she called before her treatment to see if her bloods were ok for treatment and was told they were and to come for her chemo, only for her to get to the hospital (after a 40min journey) to be told her bloods were actually not ok and she couldn’t have chemo.
My mum has stage 4 cancer and we are both disgusted by some of the events that have occurred and feel powerless to change anything, but wanted to make you aware that some of the systems or management needs to improve.
My mum is quite a strong lady, but she should not have had to experience this and we do not want someone else to have to also go through this. It has made her feel helpless and worthless at times.
