"Cardiology appointment"

About: West Suffolk Hospital / Cardiology

On a recent visit to West Suffolk Hospital to attend a Cardiology appointment i was disappointed with the service i received. The appointment i was attending took place in the Diabetes department although it was to see a Cardiologist and the receptionist asked me the usual identity questions i.e name, address etc. then asked me how long i had been a UK resident? I do understand that I was the only non white face in there, but she did not ask anybody else the same question as i listened to everyone she checked in after me. I have a Yorkshire accent so its unlikely this would have given her any reason to ask this question. I know the NHS has a problem with so called health tourists, but surely anyone with a modicum of common sense would have realised that just being black does not mean I am not a UK resident or I have been living abroad. It was actually quite insulting and something that I believe should not be happening at all.
