When I first joined CAMHS it was nearly 2 years ago now and after the first 6-8 Months of going I started to feel worse rather than better. After a year at CAMHS I found out that the therapist I had been put with was a family therapist and worked with families going through divorce etc, rather than a nurse that could help me in terms of suicide, anxiety and self-harm. I feel now like I'm not being taken seriously anymore now that I have been there nearly 2 years. In a session recently I got told that the only reason that I was still in CAMHS was because of bereavement and not because of the things I was originally brought in for. It upset me to hear this because I very clearly wasn't happy that day and they could see that.
CAMHS in Doncaster town centre is not a place that I feel comfortable going anymore and I feel like I need therapy to counteract for the lack of therapy there is there. CAMHS should not be a place where young people or adults are afraid to go.
