Although waiting two and a half days for an appendix operation (which has nothing to do with the staff) was rather disappointing, I am writing to praise and thank the nurses, staff and doctors on Ward 12.
It’s difficult to know where to start as throughout my time I was treated with respect and care from the well mannered, professional staff.
Everyone of them made my stay as pleasant as possible, especially for me with a young family over Christmas.
It was fun to have a laugh with the nurses and their caring nature ensured I was never in pain and always kept up to date with when my operation was likely to be.
The hospital was always clean and I never wanted for anything (except my appendix removed). This is emphasised by waking up on Christmas morning to find the staff had given all the patients presents (deodorant and shower gel.... maybe they were giving us a hint) but that small gift was very useful and goes to show the level of individual attention and genuine care all the patients were given.
I would love to know my message has reached Ward 12 as I cannot thank them enough. It’s now three weeks post op and I’m healing fine, so a final thanks to the surgeon and their team for their good work.
Finally I’d like to say thank you to the nurse in A&E who initially looked after me. Again, she was kind, professional and attentive to my needs but also the needs of my young family. She was brilliant and even rang the ward to see if we were ok; an absolute credit to the NHS.
With negative news on the NHS in the media, I’d like you to know how well you’ve all done and you are making a positive difference. Thank you so much.
