"Great care from A&E to Ward to Aftercare"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Following nasty fall and 3 broken bones plus dislocation to my wrist the staff in A&E were so helpful and reassuring.

I needed emergency operation to fit screw to my Scaphoid and having arrived at A&E at around 9.30am - by 2pm I had bed on ward - fortunately my own room - and had operation performed same day and was back on ward by around 6pm.

All the staff in A&E and on the ward were so very helpful.

Surgeon provided detailed information relating to operation performed and the likely outcome for me in order to manage my expectations.

Since then (July 2017) once the cast was removed I was referred to the Drop in Hand Clinic in Mill Road where the service was fantastic.

All of the physios had clearly read through notes and viewed x-rays prior to seeing me and provided useful information and exercises for me to do at home in addition to regular follow up appointments.

Sadly we always hear lots about the bad stuff but not about the good stuff - my first experience of visit to Colchester A&E and first broken bones so I have been lucky but the staff and the care received were really great and I am most grateful.

Thank you to all.
