"DRC gives us time off the ward"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as the patient),

The DRC. (Diamond resource centre) is an excellent place. It gives us time to get off the ward.

There’s a Gym, snacks and pop are available while you watch films. Socializing is possible. So we can meet friends and catch up. It gives us time with different Staff. We chat with them and it’s time to enjoy a different environment

It is disappointing when the DRC sessions have to be postponed because Staff have to be utilized on the wards, especially for People in segregation.

Special events like a moving on party would be good where we can mix with friends from the other wards which I think is good for us.

Thank you very much for sharing the positive experience you have from attending the Diamond Resource Centre (DRC) Day Care Services and the effective impact that it has on your recovery.

It is sad when the DRC sessions are postponed. However this now happens rarely and only if there are a number of emergencies. The DRC staff then go on the wards to support the wards to support the ward based staff. This is done to enable patients to have activities on the wards, such as exercises, bingo, make up sessions, music, creative writing, painting and planning for sense of community projects. Please do attend the monthly Women’s Services Recovery and Involvement Group (DRIG) meetings where we review the meaningful activities programme and discuss how best to ensure that patients have their meaningful activities.

The idea of a moving on party can be included in the activity programmes. Please share it at both your own ward community meetings and at DRIG.

Once again many thanks for your feedback
