I recently visited Musgrove Park to attend an appointment with my elderly Mum. We were slightly lost and my Mum was struggling to cope with the walk down the copious amounts of long corridors.
A member of staff stopped to ask if we were ok and if we needed any help. (I must have been showing a lost look on my face). I explained that we were on our way to an appointment but we were slightly lost. It turned out we were in completely the wrong building. This lady, her name was Linzi (according to her fun, dinosaur shaped badge), offered to find us a wheelchair to aid my Mum, about 5 minutes later she returned with the wheelchair. She then helped my mum to get into the chair then proceeded to take us to my Mum’s appointment.
She was very caring, thoughtful and we had a lovely chat, then we arrived at the department, some two buildings away from where we had been picked up.We said we didn’t want to take her away from her work, she explained it was no problem and she was on a lunch break. We couldn’t have been more grateful for her help, and although we said how grateful we were, a simple “it’s no problem at all, take care” was her response before she left.
Now I know it sounds like the most simplest of acts, but the simple act touched us both and when you see so much negativity in the media I think it’s important that the good is highlighted. We wanted to both publicly thank Linzi from the Emergency Department (according to the uniform) for going out of her way to assist us and for being so attentive and caring towards my Mum and I.
