Where do I start? Well, I hope the part about my having PMDD is kept in this review as I think it is SO important that women can find somewhere to go for the very best treatment, and I have had the very best here. My consultant has been superb from the very start. He referred me to the loveliest, most reassuring and brilliant surgeon for my hysterectomy. I was on the David Evans ward initially, all who were kind, caring, and supportive. During a bit of a drama post op, I had so many nurses and staff helping me, holding my hand, reassuring me, and making sure I was checked on regularly. I was then moved to the Annie Zunz Ward, who had the patience of saints dealing with some very difficult patients throughout the night. The tea lady was fabulous. The lady who came and cleaned was very sweet. Everybody, everybody made the ward a safe and caring environment. No doubt about it, the staff are struggling under immense pressure, and so I couldn't quite believe some of the abuse they were receiving from some patients - nothing, I should add, related to their care in any way.
I so, so wish I had the names of some of the staff I met - in particular the anesthetist and his colleague just before I went into the op. Oh they made me laugh so much. I felt completely relaxed. Thank you SO much for that. I don't think I came across nervous, but I certainly am very prone to anxiety, and it was so nice to sink into sleep without being a wreck! And the lovely nurse who asked questions when I arrived and just looked after me pre-op. So smiley and lovely.
So if you have PMDD and have given up hope, don't. There are ways forward and this team will get you through.
I cannot thank them enough. They have, without a doubt, saved my life. I had no quality of life. Now there is hope and light. I couldn't have done it without them all.
